Baele-Rémion (Fund)
Support for further professional development of people active in Africa and Latin America in the field of anesthesia and blood transfusion.
What is it about?
The objective of the Fund is to support the professional development of anesthesiologists and key players in the field of transfusion in developing and emerging countries, mainly in Africa and Latin America.
It awards b-SMART scholarships (Scholarships for the Support of Anesthesiologists and Transfusion), allowing selected candidates to acquire additional training useful in the practice or development of their profession. This is done, for example, by financing short stays (1 to 3 months) in a Belgian university or hospital or South-South missions.
The Fund's action is an extension of existing collaboration programs between health institutions in the North and in the South.
It therefore gives priority to graduates of the following university courses :
- the DES of Anesthesia-Resuscitation of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Abomey-Calavi, in Cotonou, Republic of Benin.
- the Curso Anual Internacional de Inmunohematologia y Medicina Transfusional of Rosario in Argentina (IUNIR and UNR).
The Fund pays particular attention to innovative projects, opportunities for the development of teaching careers and women's careers.
