Entrench democracy in a changing world.

More than ever before, the King Baudouin Foundation is promoting democratic values. In fact, it is essential that we do so, as these values have come under threat. More and more citizens feel their concerns are not understood, trust in governments is falling, and the growth of digital media is causing myriad forms of fake news to spread.

Our democracy programme focuses on five cornerstones: Citizenship Education, Civil Society, Technology and Democracy, Media Support and Leadership Development. We develop projects and support organisations in Belgium, Europe and internationally. Democracy does not simply stop when it reaches our borders, after all.

BELvue museum is our centre for democracy. Situated right at the heart of Brussels, it serves as a meeting place for everyone, with partnerships between institutions, communities, the youth and educational sector, and cultural partners.
