European philanthropy infrastructure
Promoting collaboration between foundations in Europe.
Philanthropy and the role it plays in democratic societies needs to be recognised and supported. This is the challenge for philanthropic organisations which, throughout Europe, are mobilising their expertise, knowledge and networks. However, in order to be successful, philanthropy needs a strong and effective infrastructure that encourages collaboration. The King Baudouin Foundation pursues such an approach, working with over 50 European institutions, defending the interests of the sector as well as enhancing its transparency and impact.
Our activities
- we support several organisations: the European Foundation Centre (EFC), an association of European foundations and an important platform for networking and knowledge exchange between European foundations; the Network of European Foundations (NEF), an operational base for joint projects in Europe; the European Venture Philanthropy Association (EVPA) and the Donors and Foundations Networks Europe (Dafne)
- and we initiate debate on reform relating to the future infrastructure of European philanthropy.
