Fund secondary Dystonia
Greater attention to and knowledge of the movement disorder dystonia when it results from medication use.
What is it about?
Many medications can cause dystonia, a movement disorder characterized by involuntary, sustained or intermittent muscle contractions. Dystonia caused by medication use can have a major impact on the patient, both physically and psychologically, and in rare cases can even lead to life-threatening situations. This is due to the fact that dystonia is often diagnosed too late and not treated correctly. The Fund for Secondary Dystonia aims to make health care providers and medication users more alert to the risk of dystonia from medication use. This allows patients to receive the correct diagnosis and treatment more quickly.
The Fund has created an informative brochure and a short animation video.
