Mothers at Risk (Fund)
Support projects that fight for the right to quality, respectful maternal health care for all women, and to end maternal and infant mortality and morbidity.
What is it about?
The Mothers at Risk Fund is linked to Mothers at Risk, a Brussels-based non-profit organization founded by a group of people determined to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable and marginalized mothers in the developing world.
Since 2009, volunteers from diverse backgrounds have been working to reduce the staggering number of women and girls who die each year in childbirth or from pregnancy-related complications. As maternal health advocates, they are fighting for the right to quality, respectful maternal health care for all women, and to end maternal and infant mortality and morbidity.
Mothers at Risk works with small, local, grassroots organizations that are very established in the communities they serve and have a good track record of having an impact in those communities. Mothers at Risk helps them connect to networks and funding to support their work. They also partner with larger organizations to promote innovative solutions to maternal health challenges and to replicate and scale up interventions that work.
Over the years, Mothers at Risk has supported projects in, among others, Brazil, DR Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Senegal and South Africa.
