Huis Beaucarne
Restoration of grape greenhouse and reopening to the public
2024
Oudenaarde - Ename
The grapevine greenhouse is an exceptional 18th-century monument, located at the back of the historic park garden of Beaucarne House.
Built in the second half of the 18th century according to the then fashion of 'Exoticism', the building was meant to evoke a Turkish tent by means of painted trompe-l'oeuil motifs on the exterior. In addition, the building houses a number of 18th-century grapevines, which is quite exceptional. The building is being restored and will be opened to the public.
