€ 31,112The health center of Baria, in the Commune of Keur Saloum Diané, has suffered from a problem of access to water since its creation.
It polarizes more than eight poor villages in rural areas for a total population of more than 7,000 people. The lack of a water point in the health center exposes staff and patients to hygiene problems as the toilets are often in a deplorable sanitary situation:
- The staff is confronted with a problem of water availability;
- The majority of the village population is unaware of the basic rules of good practice in the management of drinking water and hygiene;
- Menstrual health is a taboo subject in rural areas, which exposes women and young girls to reproductive health problems due to their ignorance on this issue;
- The issue of water availability and its adequate use must be a recurrent subject in the relations between the administration and the people so that the right of the populations is respected and protected by the public authorities.
