Nighthawks organises audio-visual production workshops that enrich the lives of young people from Brussels. It is the second winner of the prize awarded by the Creative Bruxsels Fund, which is overseen by the King Baudouin Foundation. With an amount of 10,000 euros, the prize will enable the organisation to further develop its programme Le Tribunal des Préjugés (‘The Tribunal of Prejudice’). Through short, inspiring videos, exhibitions, participative works, interactive maps and films, the aim is to allow young people to express themselves on the theme of the construction of clichés and representations of their territory but also the way that they are perceived and, in turn, perceive themselves.
All over Brussels - a city characterised by a great diversity of cultures, populations and ideas - innovative and creative initiatives are emerging in many fields. The Creative Bruxsels Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, wishes to support such initiatives by individuals, groups of people or communities in the Brussels-Capital Region.
Following a call for projects, an independent jury selects a winner who receives 10,000 euros to further develop their project. Innovative and creative projects serving the public interest, social cohesion or bringing citizens together are favoured. The jury is particularly attentive to originality, innovation, even impertinence, as well as to the reproducibility or the 'butterfly effect' generated by the projects, in a spirit that highlights the characteristics of the people of Brussels.
Le Tribunal des Préjugés is the second winner of the Creative Bruxsels Fund prize. Selected in 2022, this project by Nighthawks Production helps young Brussels residents to express themselves through collective works about the construction of clichés and representations of their territory or neighbourhood but also about the way they are perceived and, in turn, perceive themselves. Through exhibitions, interactive maps, short films or movies, from Etterbeek to Neder-over-Heembeek and from Jette to Anderlecht, the workshops of the Le Tribunal des Préjugés offer an educational and artistic tool for questioning our representations. The prize of 10,000 euros will allow the development of a longer video format with several young people from different Brussels municipalities. On May 11. 2023, Le Tribunal des Préjugés will be awarded the Creative Bruxsels Prize by the co-founder of the Fund, Haroun Atila.
A new call for projects has also been launched. Applications can be submitted until August 21, 2023. In September, an independent jury will pre-select three to five projects that will be invited to present their proposal in more detail. The winner will be announced at the end of the year and the award ceremony will take place in 2024.
