The cystic fibrosis lung in the era of modulator therapy
2023
Gent
Project of Piet Cools supported by the Fund A & J Forton and muco.be : 'Modulators have improved clinical outcomes in CF patients but the long-term effects on the lung microbiome remain poorly understood. Therefore, we aim to follow-up CF patients’ lung microbiomes for three years. Patients also remain at risk of multi-drug resistant infections. Phages, viruses that kill bacteria and an alternative to antibiotics, are ready to enter clinical practice. Using innovative models reflecting the cystic fibrosis lung, we want to improve personalized phage therapy'
