Supported project of Dirk Elewaut and Emilie Dumas : The gut-joint axis is a key concept in our current understanding of spondyloarthritis. Considering the emerging role of gut dysbiosis in its pathogenesis, this project will investigate the predictive value of gut microbial alterations and gut barrier integrity markers for assessment of treatment outcomes in axial SpA patients (i.e. responders versus non-responders). Microbiome-based predictive tools will allow informed clinical decision-making and pave the way towards personalized medicine.
